We have the Ford GT70, Honda Z600 autocross special, Ford GT, Ecotec-powered Elise, and both early and middle Toyota MR2s.

So, for the audience: Favorite mid-engine cars?

986 Boxster, hands down. Still enamored with mine.

Favorite mid engine car car 2000-2005 NSX.

Current favorite, that I have in garage,  because I can't afford NSX - 94/95 MR2 Turbo and my Lotus Elise.

I have a 986 S at the moment, and have owned all flavors of MR2s,  but my favorite hands down was my much modified '74 X1/9.

Toyota MR-S. Such a delightful little car to drive. Stock for stock, I much prefer this over a Miata.

NSX. Or if I'm dreaming, a Consulier.  Or maybe a $2000 challenge Lotus Europa.

What, no love for the Previa? :)

#1 Elise

#2 Dino

#3 Miura

Crap, this list may be backwards. There are many more. MR2 (any) ,X1/9,550 speedster, Boxster, 914, blah blah, blah. can't go wrong. I'd take a Fiero.

The only I've driven were a Boxter and an Elise and both were quite nice.

I'll at least put up the mid-engine car currently in my garage, even if it's only three cylinders.

It's a long reach to change the spark plugs, that's for sure!

I haven't driven most of the cars listed, but I loved the V6 2nd gen MR2 I drove, and I love the Cayman.

A 987 cayman is on my short list, but for now, the $1500 spyder kart is pretty fun!

Cayman S for sure. Most fun I've had behind the wheel of any car of the street.

I don’t know much about the Lotus Evora, but there’s a blue one I see driving around sometimes and the exhaust sounds amaaaaazing.

Also, there is a distinct lack of 80s rally cars in this thread.

My first choice if I could afford it. If only my X1/9 could grow up! I spent quite a few miles in the car pictured, it was tame and tractable, but absurdly capable when desired.
