So I'm working on a '96 Nissan truck that's rattling like a diesel. The timing chain has been changed with the guides etc. (not by me) No change in the noise. Also has a ton of blow by. Compression is good, 160+ across the board. No change in noise when disconnecting spark plug wires one at a time to change piston load. 200,000+ miles. No smoke out the tail pipe. Truck actually runs fine and idles smoothly aside from the noise. Not sure about the rocker arms with their little hydraulic lifter like deals on the ends.
Ideas?

My vote would be ring land.
The blowby suggests a piston problem, or valve guided totally pooched. You said 200,000 miles, right? Ain't worth fixing unless you do it right, and that probably involves a hefty machine shop bill.

More like lifters. Oil pressure is good and plenty of oil upstairs. Engine is clean inside, not all sludged up.
