So I need to find winter storage for my 996. In the past I've stored stuff at my friends mom's barn. It's only used for vehicle storage now and she rents out about 15 spots. It's great because its cheap, convenient, safe and secure and pest free (whole place is full of rat/everything poison). The only downside is when I stored my miata there (for a year) it smelled like a barn inside for months after. I did have a few 'damp traps' in it which were just a small amount of desicant over a screen, and they were all full of water when I took it out of storage.
Is there any way to keep the 911 from stinking up over the winter?
Replace the damp traps with some frequency
Dryer sheets?
Hay barn smell is rough to avoid..
Baking soda box on the dash? Works for the fridge...

Then it just smells like dryer sheets. To me that's like Febreeze, you are just using one odor to cover up another one.
I have a mustiness issue in my pole barn, despite the concrete floor, because it is a metal building with a lot of trees around it. One thing that's helped for me is to keep the air moving. I don't know if that's an option for you. I have a couple of cheap ceiling fans in my barn, and I just leave them on low all the time.

Stick a bunch of cedar planks in it?

I could get a bunch of damp traps. I won't really have access to the car once it goes into storage. It will stay for 5 months. I was considering pulling out the mats. Possibly plugging the cabin filter and hopig that since it's a hard top it would get as smelly as the soft top miata. It's possible just the soft top stunk. I'm pretty sure this used to be a chicken barn if it makes a difference.
