KEN BLOCK'S GYMKHANA PT.2 (TEASER)

Mike Garrett said: I don't think I need to ask, but do you remember Ken Block's gymkhana video that was posted and reposted on every blog, forum, and car website on the face of the earth? Well, based on the success of the first film, Ken is going to try and outdo himself with what's being called the "Gymkhana Two" project. The completed video should be released in a few weeks on June 1st, but in the meantime Ken and DC Shoes are releasing some short teaser trailers to build some hype for the new project. The first of these short teaser clips shows the '08 STI that's being specially prepped by Crawford for the film. Ken says the movie's new location and obstacles with a "few surprises" thrown in should make for some entertaining stuff. All I know is that if it's even half as good as the original, it will be an instant classic. Stay up to date on the Gymkhana Two project at Ken's blog on the DC Shoes website. -Mike Garrett

Watching the first Gymkhana video made me all giddy so I hope Ken can deliver with this new one. Is he building hype because he thinks he can do better than the last one? discuss

Will he perform more illusions with a Segway?

To make the new one more impressive, it should be a single shot. Chase the car with a helicopter or something.

Either that or spend the money to enter him in a WRC event and see how he does in the deep end

Pardon me, but that "teaser" was utterly content free. Don't waste your time.

Agreed....just a collage of dark and shady shots of relatively mundane parts of the car.

I am unaware of this Ken Block person and any video he may have been involved in. Will someone please post said video 15 times in 15 different threads? Thanks.

I agree with Keith. Even my non-car female coworker has seen it and thinks it's the greatest thing ever. Now do it in one shot and it would be impressive! In fact, to be just awesome, still shoot all the different viewpoints and show those with a small picture-in-picture of the helicopter shot to prove it was done without editing!

Didn't Subaru do some bullE36 M3 with them a few years back and have them recce run Mexico? Come on guys, if you think you're that good, jump into WRC. What, afraid you'd be a backmarker !

Yes, lets not get all wet in the pants about spinning a car around some E36 M3 in a billion takes

There is a gymkhana exposed video floating around that shows a lot of the raw footage from the first one, including but not limited to, destroyed deck lid wings, tail lights, bumper covers, and off-road excursions.

Ken and Travis have both run WRC events. They did ok, not great.

They have exposed Rally to more new fans than anybody since McRae. They're both doing Rally for kicks, not to make a paycheck. That's awesome to me, so I don't get the attitude. (except that the gymkhana video was for some other magazine...)

Why not run WRC? Because it sucks now (spec gearboxes FTL), and it's still crazy expensive. Rally America/NASA Rallysport is a better program, and much cheaper to be involved in.

The hero worship bugs me - a guy like Sebastien Loeb completely dominates rallying for 5 years and could potentially win every event this year, but Ken Block puts out a cool tire-smoking edited video and he's the BEST DRIVER EVAR!!!1!

I'm not crazy about some of the cost-cutting measures the WRC is putting in, although the spec tires this year have really shown how the different drivers use up tires. And regardless, they're the best drivers in the world.

But does Seb wear a flat brimmed hat?

No. Check and mate.

BTW, Seb is a fantastic driver and one of my personal idols.

I'll never, ever be as talented as Loeb. However, with enough discretionary income and free time, I could potentially be as good as KB. He's a fan of the sport who's living the dream, and therefore I find it easier to relate to him.

Besides, jumping stuff is cool!

I know a guy who's trying to get some sort of sponsorship from him. The same guy was sporting his DC's in an article some magazine wrote about some car, but this guy has more of a man-crush on Travis Pastrana's Dad than on Ken Block.

I try to support companies that support racing, but I don't drink and I don't smoke and don't need Viagra yet, so it is hard to do. I wish I could support DC Shoes because they sure do some cool stuff, but they make nothing for old farts like me. Oh well.

Not all of their stuff is all flashy (I don't like the flashy stuff either.) These are pretty tame:

http://store.dcshoes.com/Products/MENS%20FOOTWEAR%20SHOES/DW1_301954.aspx

And they've got some "slip-ons" that are super comfy:

http://store.dcshoes.com/Products/MENS%20FOOTWEAR%20SHOES/OUTLAW_302151.aspx

They're the most comfortable, durable shoes I've ever worn. A roomate of mine gave me a hand-me-down pair to skate in twelve years ago. They were so tough, I started wearing them to work (at a carwash,) then for grass cutting duty. I swear, I thought they'd never die.

I just retired a 5 year old pair that I wore every_day (excluding weddings and funerals.) I've got another on pair on the way.

Ken Block and Dave Mirra signed my posters for my 3 year old daughter at the OregonTrail Rally today. They were really nice guys, and very patient. Maybe they're not WRC material, but to a 3 year old girl, they are really special!

Yeah just post this Gymkhana video 12 more times, I don't think I saw it. I think it's cool but i'm not fully IMPRESSED, Mario Andretti can drive, Sebastian Loeb can drive, Walter Rohl can drive, Aryton Senna can drive, I want to see him on a WRC stage or even IRC since IRC is 50 times better than WRC now, WRC is going a little downhill. And not one of the new fancy cars that are a little easier to drive than the ones from the GOOD era, put him in a Metro 6R4 or a Stratos or Opel Manta......

It's like what was said before, Loeb won 5 titles and he's considered one of the best drivers, Ken Block from DC shoes does this once and everybody worships him. Is it becasue the kids saw him at the X games and most of them have flat billed and have tattoos so since DC shoes is on and driving a car they think he's cool? Subaru quit WRC but they are popular with the X Games crowd and over here for sure. Oh by the way in case you think I hate the X Games, I actually love it!

He still needs to prove to me, now Travis Pastrana, he's another story, he is learning more and can drive and learned from some of the best, I fully respect him and you got to love Nitro Circus!
