What fantastic driving!  wink Looks like the inspiration for the FF series which then added the "modern adaptation" of downshifting every 10 seconds to go faster...

You mean like they did in Ford vs. Ferrari where they were supposedly at full throttle on Mulsanne but could somehow downshift to pull away from another car? wink

POS Corvette bites the big one - not much plot for a movie but then some people will pay just to watch you spin your tires until the explode so I guess not everyone is looking for elements like - a plot!

BTW, running without a bonnet over the engine is a notably stupid idea in the event that you blow a coolant hose or oil line, in which case your face is next in line to take whichever boiling hot liquid is going to spray out.

I actually watched about a half hour of this movie in the 80s on a VCR before I got bored and turned it off.  Could have spent my time much more productively.

Lots and Lots of King of the Mountain stuff here, but set aside a full month to read it all.

Yes, if that movie is related to the linked thread it is about the activities up on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles. I evidently went to high school with the main guy "Banning" but don't recall him now (it was a very big school). I spent a number of nights up there in the 70s before I started autoX. Several of the guys up there were autoXers and one ended up being my SCCA Race School instructor. When I get together with friends from high school and beyond there are always Mulholland stories told. "Stonewall"

I drove a bit of Mulholland when I was doing a press tour with the V8 Miata. A German journo wanted to try it. It was suburban :) Obviously neither of us had any idea where we were going. Also, I got stuck in stop and go traffic on the interstate at 5 am.

To me, king of the mountain means Peter Brock - the Australian one. Here's a tour of his office as he's two-wheeling a four door family sedan that blows flames out of a howling V8 over the top of Mt Panorama. Mid-race.

First...zombie thread revival!

Second...are C2 Corvette coupe replica bodies readily available? Do they fit over any particular chassis that would make for a decent restomod kinda thing?

Probably better than FnF IX is going to be.

No rear window in the Vette for some reason, and two tachometers in the Speedster.

You ever notice how when cars in bad movies go off a cliff, they always explode just before they hit?  smiley

I think there may be multiple sources for bodies, here's one: https://customimagecorvettes.com/product/1967-corvette-replica-coupe/  There are multiple sources for C2 Corvette restomod chassis as well.

In reply to stuart in mn :

The inside story is that the Vette went off the cliff twice !

the first time it did not explode good enough , so they took the remains back to the shop , built some "bodywork" that looked like a  Vette and sent it off the cliff a second time !

The movie is so lame it's totally worth watching just for it's lameness.

Mulholland has changed a lot since the KOTM days. More houses, the street has been realigned in at least one section, speed bumps added and that is just since I was there last in 2003. There is probably more if you read the Pelican Forum.

Woot, one of old threads got zombied!

Many years ago, I was in SoCal with a then-new SW20 MR2 Turbo and a few hours to kill. Hello, Mulholland Drive....
