Kosei K1 Touchup Paint

A while back, after much searching, I finally found a set of my favorite wheels in a hard to find configuration – 17x7.5, 5x114.3.  I’m finally having some tires installed on them today so I can put them on my daily driver.

These wheels are barely used and are in 95% mint condition.  One exception… for some reason one wheel has a spot near the center bore where corrosion has begun, and the lovely white oxide powder has pushed its way under the paint, causing  a ~1” square area to peel right off.  I just noticed this morning while loading them up to bring to the tire shop.

Obviously, I’ll need to keep peeling/scraping until I find the edge of the corrosion, sand, mask, prime, and paint.

I have a couple other sets of K1’s in the popular 15x7 4x100 size, and the finish appears to be identical on all.  Anyone know off the top of their head what readily available paint is the closest match for Kosei K1 silver? 

I had that same wheel on my 2010 Forte. IIRC, they stopped production on the 7.5" 5x114 somewhere around 2009.

Yes that sounds about right. I got these from an older gentleman who purchased them as-pictured from Tire Rack in the mid/late 00's, as winter wheels for his then brand-new RX8.  He said he drove the RX8 only a handful of times that first winter, and the next year decided just to store the car each winter.  The wheels (and 15 year old Blizzaks) have maybe 500 miles on them

I've actually contacted people at Kosei directly to see if they would make me a set in 5x114, and found out that Tire Rack has exclusive rights to this wheel design.  In order to bring them back I'd have to convince Tire Rack to do so .  They are such a nice looking and affordable wheel, I don't understand why they cut them back to 4x100 and 5x120 only!
