There were two on display at the Rolex 24 last year at the Chevrolet booth but they were both automatics. I was interested because I really enjoyed my Holden made GTO and considered it the best designed and built GM vehicle ever. BUT the 6spd manual was only available for a short time in 2016 and was the only model I would have considered.

I don't mistake them for anything. I can spot them easy.
Agreed - I remember when I first saw G8's on the road, I was really impressed. It just looked...tough. My wife always agreed, she saw them a mile out. Co workers and family members looked at me sideways when I mentioned them, they had no idea what I was talking about.
I guess youre either attracted to that styling, and so you catch it immediately, or youre not, and it just blends into the background. I kinda like that actually, cops might not notice you either
GM was offering 20% off in-stock SS's at the end of last year. Maybe they still are.
IIRC these cars were only imported to US to satisfy an agreement with the assembly plant and/or labor union down under.
My friend works for GM here in Detroit. Last spring he wanted to order one and the dealer told him they weren't orderable. He got a string pulled inside GM and was able to order his car (manual, no sunroof, no spare tire, black on black).
The seat belt recall delayed the dealer from being able to deliver it, so he cancelled the deal and bought an ATS. The dealer called him a few weeks later and offered him the 20% discount so he ballered up and bought it.
He loves them both but will probably sell the SS this spring. I will make sure he posts it in the GRM Open Classifieds.
14 mpg city rating seems a tad on the thirsty side. The Corvette with the same motor was rated at 17 mpg.

And only 21 on the freeway. As compared to cars like the Charger that gets 25. Even my boat of a SHO, which is bigger, heavier, and AWD, gets 24.
