It does look bad. Sounds really bad. They just said their tending to Simonsen beside the track.
2nd comercial break with nothing more on the crash. I think this may be bad. They did say that the driver was out of the car and they are working on him on the side of the track.
20 min after crash no updates I finally saw a clip of the replay and that was a huge hit and it was on the side of the car. Very bad. About the worst way to crash. Very little disipation of energy

I hope the driver is OK or at least not to badly injured. I hope it doesn't turn out like last weekend where a driver died at a vintage race I was working F&C at. They never made any announcement of the drivers condition at the track other then the driver was "unresponsive" when corner workers arrived at the car. It happened at a VSCDA event at BFR.
He literly hit a tree. Just bad luck.
Do the P1 cars just seem faster this year? The section right before pit in with the twistys just seems like a very precarious section.
The Ferrari rebuild story is incredible. Wreck the car in qualifying, locate a year old chassis in Italy (1100 miles away), drive straight through to retrieve it, rebuild to new spec requirements (and repaint) and get on track for mandatory 5 lap qualifying before race start. Sounds like a Lemons fix, albeit a slightly more expensive one.
I think they're faster, though not the fastest ever. I think the track record is in the 3:18 range.
I wonder if they only had to paint the roof, since I'll bet they had spares of all the other panels.

Yes, just heard. Thoughts and prayers to the family. Nothing taints a race weekend worse than an injury and Lord forbid a death. Really sucks.... I have the race on here at work, but haven't been able to watch much.

Yeah, I was really excited to watch the race, but that just seems inappropriate after an untimely passing.
I was afrade of that. Very sad. Thaghts and prayers go out to the famley, friends and the team. Gods speed.
Oh man, you can see how it tweaked the entire frame, roof was distorted.
Crazy how hard the car kicked left once he got to the curbing.
