That being said, we'll be looking at a '13 today that has 12,752 miles and is priced well within our new car budget. With all the info the wife and I have gathered, it seems like it may be the right vehicle for us at this time.
We test drove one as a Mazda5 replacement and ended up buying one. With used prices being what they are, it's a great value compared to a similar vintage and mileage Prius, and a similar vintage and mileage Escape. Cargo and passenger room appear comparable to an Escape, but with a hybrid drivetrain and significantly better mileage.
Nitpicks so far:
Tire pressure warning doesn't call out the offending tire.
The oil life monitor doesn't have any sort of percentage remaining indicator, it's binary.
SWMBO doesn't like the instrument cluster displays, she says they are too distracting. She runs it in the mode that only displays fuel level and range on the left side. I tend to leave it in the mode that displays the power split between EV and gas motors, so I can force it into EV mode more often.
What we love:
So quiet in the cabin compared to the Mazda, especially at highway speeds.
We're averaging about 38 mpg over the first two full tanks.
LATCH anchors aren't buried like some other cars we've experienced (Nissan/Infiniti, I'm looking at you here).
Heated seats are awesome.
Ride/handling are excellent for daily driver use. A bit sharper than the Prius, but still rides comparatively nicely over bumpy roads.
