No, I think they are hamstrung in an easily reversible way to keep idiots from looping them when it drizzles and getting a rep as a death machine.
Big difference between the M3 and the coupe is you can fit far larger tires on the M3 up front. You really can't fit more than a 245 or 255 up front on the coupe...
