The rest of the car is easy. It’s the driver’s rear I fear. Gas tank stuff in the way. Hard to get anything in there, and I’ve only done a handful of dent popping in my life. The paint is shot, so I don’t care about it. Would the HF dent kit work for this stuff? I’m plastidipping later on, so I’d like it to be relatively flat.

Basically- how would you guys tackle this job?

That looks well and truly wrinkled. How hard is it to weld a new quarter panel onto a Miata?

A stud welder kit would handle that. Definitely do not replace the 1/4.

Don’t worry, my weld skills suck and wouldn’t even try. The stud kit might work though. Don’t have a welder. Any diy suggestions that don’t involve that?

Many main concern is that big one in front of the gas tank filler.

Do NOT use one of those "drill and pull" things!

A HF stud puller would likely be the best, that is what I have been using (unibody cars are a pain in that respect).  You will likely need to do some metal shrinking (if the dents have stretched the metal too much), so look into that.  If you can get anything behind the dent to brace it, that would be helpful.

You probably won't get it perfect, but good enough for a slim body filler coat (do not use Bondo if you can at all help it)

Put a basketball in behind and inflate it. Tap around the outside of the dent as it comes out. Going to need some shrinking to make it right. I like my shrinking disc. You can grassroots one with an angle grinder and a piece of grinding paper on a backer disc mounted smooth-side out. YouTube shrinking disc for what it does and how to use it.

"First in last out" is the mantra of dent repair.

Most of this stuff is a "push to paint". I would pull the taillight and use a dent craft ultrathin. Paintless or dentless repairs can do some amazing things, but it has limitations. No matter what you do want to add some 3M cavity wax in there after you do the repair or it can and will rust from the inside out. If you want to know about the limitations of paintless dent repair, there is lots of data out there.
