Needing to replace my car for something with more trunk space! How reliable are these cars? Will they hold up like a typical Honda?

The general consensus is that they are decent. After waiting forever for their prices to come down--they didn't to any appreciable level--i bought one about a month ago. So far so good. It exactly what thought it would be; fast enough, efficient enough, spacious enough, fuel efficient enough. Watch for for window motors and 3rd gear synchro issues. A surprising amount of them have salvage titles--i wonder why

My ex G/F had an FG2, which is the 2-door Si.

Car never gave her any issues, except for some 3rd gear woes. It didn't "pop out" of gear, but sometimes needed some extra guidance into 3rd if being driven agressive. Got real good MPG's, felt solid and was fun to drive.

My only gripes were: It wasn't exactly fun to work on. A bit of the engine is tucked under the cowl, and requires removal of various trim and heat shields at the bottom of the windshield to get to things like spark plugs. Also, the oil filter is in an odd spot. I had to get at it through the passenger wheel well and it always dumps oil all over various suspension components.

Another thing to look out for... the insurance was OUTRAGEOUS. My ex was a 24YO female with a clean record and was paying three times what I was paying for my WRX Wagon, and almost twice what my Ion Redline cost. This was on her parents policy as well...

Another weird thing... Not sure if it was just the coupes, but Honda did something weird with the windshield wipers for Civics in 2007 only. The only "replaceable" part of the windshield wiper is the rubber that contacts the windshield. IIRC, the only place to get them is through Honda. I remember I found a dealer selling them on eBay real cheap and bought a whole bunch of them for her. When it came time to replace them, she had lost them. She was a piece of work...

Oh, and the back seat foot wells held a remarkable amount. A weeks worth of outfits, half a dozen pairs of shoes and dozens of Cliff Bar wrappers and empty water bottles. Come to think of it, those wipers were probably at the bottom of one of those piles...
