I agree the FC is better, it wouldn't meet my "theme" idea appearance wise though....

This is going to go well.......but I think this is going to be my best source of a roller and TII transmission somewhat locally.
AFAIK there aren't any Mazda fours that haven't been put in.
T2 transmissions sound nice but they don't shift and a driveshaft to put one in an FB is expensive. For $500 for the driveshaft, $400ish for the trans, I can keep breaking smoothcase transmissions for a couple more years.
bruceman wrote: Been there with the FB so...........FB has a rear suspension that binds up, a front suspension that lacks akerman, a hideous steering box/linkage, 90% of them are equipped for carbs not FI, and stupid 4x110 wheels which limit your rim choices. All of that can be fixed but why bother when the FC can be found for similar cost and they are a much much better car. From someone who will never go back to an FB
"Well, that is just like your opinion, man!!"

The motor he's talking about is going to be breathed on by me.
It'll break a smoothcase backing out of his driveway.
B2600 transmission in its entirety may be an option. It'll also shift like E36 M3, but he comes from 4.3 S10s with a 5spd, so it'll probably feel awesome.

Not sure what you're getting at, but i do know of a BP-powered FB of sorts.
In reply to Swank Force One:
ah I forgot about the BP.
I mean to say in a matter of speaking that a rx7 with a 4 cyl mazda is called a miata.

I.... suppose. Kindof. Sortof.
In this particular scenario, his RX7 with this motor will get annihilated by my Miata with the same motor, due mostly to inherent chassis/suspension differences.

The b2600 is an option, if these are available for half the TII, I would happily rock them.
Driveshaft, not an issue.....I can get one made to spec and length for sub-200

You can find them in the junkyards for $100 or less. Problem is finding one.
It may be worth it just to pay twice that for a TII trans so you actually HAVE a trans.
The catch is that you're going to need a B2600 bell anyways.
Alternatively, you can just use a B2200 transmission entirely, but they aren't quite as strong. Unless you plan on going completely stupid with it, it might be ok.
Terrorizing Ball State, challenge, etc....Open pipe off the turbo vertically through the hood is acceptable isn't it?
