Im this >< close to saying berkeley it and selling my black truck my Mazda wagon and my stock car and buying a new truck that I don't have to berkeley with or fix. I want the hybrid version but would most likely wind up with the turbo all-wheel drive and the 4K tow package. I know some of y'all have these trucks and there's information scattered all over the board. What I'm wondering about is what the long-term ownership is actually like what the issues are maintenance recalls Etc. I have never owned a brand new car nor have I ever actually looked seriously at buying one. It makes me nervous if I'm honest. But I'm in my mid-40s and I'm out of time after working a 50 plus hour work week every week to berkeley with keeping piles of E36 M3 running every week. I make decent money and it's time to stop fighting every berkeleying day.

They've made some changes for MY25. You can now get the hybrid powertrain with AWD. That means the 4k tow package is also an available option with the hybrid. I built a base model hybrid/AWD the other day on their site for under $32k.
My parents just got a 24 hybrid. They love it so far. They have had it for a few weeks and are still on the first tank of gas.
they primarily bought it because it can be flat towed behind their RV.
Love my '23.
Recall issues have mostly been software related for the non-hybrids, only exception being a inspect/replace problem with the wipers.
As far as complaints, the direct injection can be noisy and sound like a diesel on some cold starts. The infotainment screen freezes up some, but I believe that is a recall with a fix coming (freezing was affecting the backup camera)
It's been great. Good power, handles well for what it is, gas mileage is great, tows my trailer better than my expedition did... Back seat works well for my kids 4/6, though I would note that installing/removing car seats is a pain in it with access to the top strap teather.
I got a tonneau for mine, tailgate assist, Roblox mudflaps, etc.
Would buy again all day long
4k of towing with the hybrid IS a game changer. You have me on the configurator!

Good, that's why I bought one. I don't like getting 16mpg everywhere I go in a "real truck". Or having to own another car for when I want to go more than 25 miles from home without getting a bill for $100.
This is getting serious.
Im going to sign up for turo since theres a guy local renting one and i can go pound sone miles on one to see if i actually like it
Funny, I just looked up 3 online dictionaries for the definition of a truck, and not one mentioned body-on frame.

REALLY? That is a game changer.
$32,445 for base model XL with no other options other than $2,200 AWD required to get the $775 towing package.
$34,945 to move up to the XLT as a hybrid w/ AWD, 4k towing
Remember when these briefly launched as $19,999 before delivery charge!

Since Duster is a former El Camino owner, I think he'll be okay with this.
These do look interesting. I wish there was a two-door shorter cab version to cut a foot of length out of the whole vehicle. 2x4 hybrid would suit me just fine.
Mine is on order. Build begins next week according to latest update.
2025, hybrid AWD with 4k towing package.
Got rid of both Astro vans. This will replace them as tow vehicle and the Prius C as daily driver.
How's the back seat? It looks very upright. How long before it becomes a penalty box?
It's truck enough for me:
My hybrid also towed an enclosed 5x8 uHaul trailer 1700 miles from Florida to New Mexico. I just rolled over 24k miles and lifetime fuel average is right around 35mpg.

I waited 14 months for my trucklet. I ordered an 2022 Ecoboost Lariat FWD truck in a different color, received a 2023 Ecoboost Lariat 4WD. Good mileage, easy to park. decent performance. Cheap interior, easy to chip paint, industrial sounding engine, uncomfortable seats for a long ride. It works well for me, I'm retired and got tired of parking my F-150. It does the job and didn't cost $75,000 which explians the cheap intereior, uncomfortable seats, etc. Lots of small accessories available on Amazon

I really like the Maverick. It's a great light duty pickup and people hauler. I'd have bought one in a minute if they offered manual trans and awd.

Other folks have covered the "not a truck" part, but I'll just chime in to say it's not a Flex, either. The Flex was based on the midsize D4 platform, the Maverick is on the compact C2 platform. So it'd be more accurate to say it's a Bronco Sport or Escape with part of the roof cut off.

It's roomier than you would think. I haven't sat back there much, as kiddo car seats are pretty much a permanent fixture in my case.
I can sit up fine at 6'2" with ample legroom. I don't really think it's as forced bolt upright as you think.
Rear facing car seats might be rather tight, forward face is not problem. The kids can put their feet to the seat in front of them though.
I look forward to not having car seats blocking access to the under seat storage.
Honestly I really really like them every time I see them. Great specs, great price, and great everything. But I'm not sure I can get over the weird offset license plate on the back bumper. I think it looks absolutely terrible, drives me crazy.
Used values are strong. Nothing near me below $25k except a rebuilt title (2022) truck* that may have been on the road as early as June 2021.
I like the Maverick too.

Reminds me of the guys who used to be like "XJ Cherokee isn't a real 4x4 since it's not body on frame"
As someone who has owned about a half-dozen body-on-frame trucks/SUVs, I'll be the first to say that whole line of argument is just tired.
I've only sat in them and driven them in a parking lot but I like that the interior is pretty basic and old-school (which also means conventional).
