There are 2024s sitting on multiple dealers' lots for sale now. My son test drove one yesterday that they were selling. He thinks they said it could go "out the door" for $23K and his Fiat in trade. I told him to get that in writing before signing anything. Salesman told him only utility companies buy the base XL.

That's good to know about the top anchor for the kiddo seat, especially since my kid recently started front-facing.

The non hybrid uses a 8F35.  It's very failure prone and expensive to fix.  I just got my 2020 Transit Connect back from the shop for the same issue, the owner told me he's done several Mavericks so far also.  FWIW the Ford quote was $8200.

Id go for the hybrid 11/10 times.

I just looked the software update was released Friday, so they can be sold once updated. It does answer your original question of why so many around, it's because they were just sitting for the last 8 months. It's not because no one wanted them.

The entire thing was because the reverse screen "might" freeze up when putting it in reverse. Can you imagine owning a dealer and having your inventory unavailable for sale, while paying interest on it? Ouch...

The XL is pretty base, it is worth getting the XLT for the money

Does Michigan do what Ohio does for hybrids and stick a surcharge ($300 here) on annual registration to recoup lost fuel taxes?

I'd look into that and factor it in.  But it does look like the fuel savings would more than compensate surprise

Ohio is $100 for hybrid only, $150 for plug-in hybrids, and $200 for pure battery EV.

That must have changed since I heard a rant about how the Volt was considered by the BMV to be an EV but the department of taxation considered it to be a hybrid.  (An accountant I knew who had a Volt figured that if it's an EV because the gas engine is just a generator, then the fuel spent for the generator could have its state taxes refunded, which was where the rant originated)

That or Cuyahoga has a little extra tacked on.

It might be that since the Hybrid engine's compression ratio is 13:1 people think you have to run 93. The engine is Atkinson cycle which means you can run higher compression without detonation.

I only paid $8.50 more to re-register my 2024 Maverick Hybrid than my IROC-Z earlier this month in Ohio. Both have regular plates. My one buddy has a Prius and reports paying the additional $100 fee. It may be that hybrids rated under 40MPG highway don't have to pay the big fee.

Ford would almost have to go zero interest on floor plans for vehicles on stop sale. It's their fault not the dealers'. The NADA is headed up by a Ford dealer and he has really been bending Jim Farley's ear quite a bit about things in general. He's also a Hyundai/Kia dealer in the epicenter of Kia Boys activity and can't be happy with all the negative activity associated with all the major paid TSBs on those products (paint peeling, oil consumption) and has been asking Ford to start building regular cars again.

I have the 2025 XL AWD Hybrid with 4k towing and I don't feel like I'm missing anything. I may use the remote start a little too much so my lifetime average is 33.3 at the moment. It's gone up 1 mpg since I got it so I must be driving it better right? Trip computer has me at nearly 1/3 of my mileage being full electric. Nearly 4000 miles driven overall in the two months I've had it. The game I play with myself is to see how much electric mileage I can put on in a trip.

I often see individual trips above 40 MPG depending on my driving habits. After coming from small eco hatchbacks and VW hot hatches the longer wheelbase and taller sidewall tires make it feel like a luxury car. It handles rather well for a trucklet. I can't recommend it enough really. Don't wait, just do it.

Prius doesn't report back a percentage of electrical travel.  I find that interesting.

So, at 1/3 lifetime electric use, as an example , would your 100k mile truck have 66k miles on the engine?

Said another way, at 10k miles traveled since last oil change is it really 6.6k miles of engine use (oil use) since last oil change?

It doesn't return a percentage. It gives total miles driven and how many under electric.

Great. Something else for me to ponder.

A shocking number of direct injected engines have compression right on up there.

If the fuel filler or owners manual doesn't specify premium, you can use the cheap stuff.  But it's worth it to monitor fuel economy and then try 93 for a couple tanks to see if the fuel economy improves over and above the additional expense.  A lot of engines can see an economy benefit that more than compensates, depending on your driving habits. (Lots of stop and go, little to no benefit.  Engine loaded on the highway all the time, you may see a benefit)

Does it score your drive with leaves on a branch like the hybrid Fusions did?

I thought that was corny but interesting.

I would think he could do better than x-plan pricing based on the current supply situation. I ordered my 24 on the 1st day Ford opened the order banks. I had finally gotten my local dealer to agree to x-plan, but demand was still high and potentially up to half the 24 hybrids were owed to folks that had ordered 23 hybrids.

Somebody was complaining about the hvac controls being through the radio display, but my 24 XLT has knobs for fan speed & temp with buttons between them for location where the air goes. The radio display does indicate fan speed and temp settings, but the controls are knobs.

i was getting right at 39-40 mpg per the info on the display until winter hit. During the winter it was showing 33 mpg. Now that the weather is warming up it's showing 37-38 mpg. That is in a fwd hybrid with a little over 4k miles. My driving is 2/3 in town (35-45 mph with frequent stops) and 1/3 freeway (60-70 mph) in hilly terrain (but not mountains). I anticipate the mpg will improve as I get more miles on it.

Overall, I like it. It's practical, comfortable, has modern safety features, and good on gas.

No leaves. At least none that I've found. The Fusion Hybrid I use at the school does however.

Been using 87 octane as that's what's recommended for the 2.5 hybrid.

We used X-plan for purchase. Nice not having to pay a bunch of extra fees. Saved us about $3000 all in with the discount.

Waiting for spring to arrive to get the windshield replaced. Took a stone to the glass.

I dunno why but the LED reflector headlights on these all look like some cheap autozone special. granted they don't glare like those would but it looks like it does anyways or is this just me?

every one of these looks like it has some cheap LED retrofit when I see them on/lit.
