Ive decided to finally fix the fuel slosh issue in my AE86 by making a surge tank setup. Not really sure what I need besides 2 fuel pumps and the tank.
What all do I need? How much volume per pump? And how big of a surge tank is needed?

Size depends on how long you want to survive a fuel starve at the main fuel tank, most hold a quart or two. You need two pumps and a tank and plenty of hose/lines. Each pump should be sufficient to feed the engine - this means your main tank pump will have an easy job of refilling the surge tank, which is good, and as a bonus if the surge tank's pump starts to fail and you have identical pumps, you could swap them in an emergency and keep on driving for a while.
You basically take your existing system and feed it into the surge tank instead of straight to the engine. Surge tank has another pump that feeds the engine. Engine return, if there is one, goes into the top of the surge tank. Surge tank return (just an open port on the top of the tank will do) goes back to the main tank if there is a return fitting on the main tank.
Keep in mind that there are sometimes rules against surge tanks - they're commonly not allowed in stage rally for example.
A surge tank (swirl pot) can be built into the main tank/fuel cell, and can be done with one pump using venturi pumps to fill the surge tank.
There are many options.
The surge tank fill pump does not need to make pressure so it's size would be based on volume at no pressure to keep the surge full.

True, if you want to be very technical about it, but using another of the same model as the engine feed pump is the easy button and gives you some survivability options.

That helps a bunch. Ive got the, line and fittings taken care of. Now it looks like tank and pump selection is next.

Anybody have experience with this surge tank?
Looks like the pump mounts in that grommet clamp arrangement with the output and wired end exposed.
I don't see which pump it is made to fit. I have zero faith in pumps made from chinesium.
