So im up to plumbing on my project. The engine donor used hard plastic vacuum lines with rubber elbows. Id like to do this as well, though I cannot re-use the original stuff due to completely different locations of the stuff it goes to. Primarily the map sensor, egr control solenoid. I can re-use the elbows.

Where do I get the line? How do I form it so it's pretty? Am I asking for trouble? Should I be committed for insanity or stupidity?

I've searched and found both the colored plastic and the color-coded rubber lines. Personally I'd go with the rubber. I'll look into it and see if I can find the companies....

Would steel brake line work, or are these plastic lines very tiny?

Super tiny. Thought about steel, but smallest I've found is 3/16. Might try it anyway. Would the added volume in the line make any difference?

Dorman sells the nylon hardline under their HELP! brand, Vacuum line. Anybody who has had a 80's - 90's GM product knows about this stuff.

I bought bulk vac line from one of the local parts stores. It was on a spool behind the counter, so you had to ask for it though.

Auto parts stores should have them. I managed to break 3 lines earlier this year just by touching them. I went to multiple parts store trying to find the correct inside diameter, but didn't have any luck. Rubber lines in the "close enough" size seem to work just fine.

I could go rubber, but the plastic or metal would be more visually appealing. Any idea how to form the nylon stuff?
