Thinking about downgrading from RS6 to something we won't feel bad about driving in Michigan winters. Mama saw an E-class wagon the other day and asked if they're any good. According to the MB website, the only flavor is called E450 All-Terrain, whatever that means. Anyone here have experience with them?
Very solid cars, dead reliable, kind of boring.
Also considered one of the snobbiest cars, if that is/is not your thing.

We have a 2017 E400 wagon, which is basically the same body style without being outbacked, but with the earlier twin turbo non hybrid V6. It now has 85k miles of essentially flawless and wonderful performance. It's a marvelous car, perfect at being a daily driver. Would heartily recommend.

Damn son, that car is beautiful!
Our RS6 came with the 22" ceramic brake package, and Tire Rack assures me that the 21" they say will clear our front brakes truly will, so we're gonna invest in a set of winters for the RS6 and let AW run it year round. I throw up in my mouth a little when I think about spending $4200 on a set of wheels and tires, but I also throw up in my mouth a little when I think about storing cars vs driving them.

Say what? How do you make the jump from owning a Mercedes wagon to snob?
Mercedes are as common as Toyotas. I have 4 of them. I want the E63 wagon so bad. Such a cool car!!! At this point owning a Mercedes anything and you just blend in to the sea of E350s to everyone but the select few that actually know the difference between the various models.
Hmmm. The wifey recently traded her few-year old Toyota Camry XLE V6 on one of these. E450 sedan. Turbo inline 6 plus a mild hybrid system. Just short of 400 HP, if memory serves, along with a similar helping of the torques. I've driven it a few times. It's very competent. It's a difficult car to nit-pick. There isn't anything wrong with it. Not crazy, like the S63 AMG, but it's a good bit less expensive. Not particularly "sporty," but supremely comfortable. Oh, and it gets 30 mpg.
Also, FWIW, it's the 2025 Motor Trend COTY.

yeah, the MPG numbers definitely grabbed my attention. I think we will probably road-trip to drive a couple, but the "not particularly sporty" part might kill it for AW. Plus, I can't imagine life without RS6. it is such a magnificent beast, but the fuel consumption is not good.

Well, don't let my "not sporty" statement scare you off. There are I think three suspension settings, and my wife always has it set to the most compliant one. It's not wallowy, or imprecise, at all. It's just not particularly firm, but is very comfortable. Read the M/T article if you haven't, and by all means, drive one!
