Zero Corvette content, unfortunate coincidence in title.

Pops' MR2 (that he graciously allows me to autocross) came with an open diff, picked up an OEM LSD off of ye olde ebay.

Plans include a new clutch when the diff is installed (because why not) but I'd like to give this new-to-me diff a  comprehensive once over before installing it deep, deep, into the ass of the car.

(Quick look when I opened it up was positive, spun smoothly, no play, expected stink of used gear-oil)

Is this something I can do my self?

And even if it is, is it something I should consider taking to a professional?

Obligatory 'picture of car in question in action':
