For anyone here who has upgraded to LED bulbs in one of their vehicles, did you shop around for anything specific or just grab something generic from eBay? Who is a reputable seller?

I am thinking about putting LED turn and brake bulbs in my old ford which takes 1157 bulbs for all four corners. I know I'll need to switch to an electronic flasher as well. I am looking for side and forward facing light in both locations.

I honestly doubt there is much difference between most of the LED's, but this site has a good reputation (I have bought some from them) and has a good amount of information on it (including cross-reference for most cars):

I have gotten some from DealExtreme (china import) which might be cheaper but finding product can be an issue.

superbrightleds.com is where I got my stuff. When you do the brake lights, get the red ones. White washes out and looks pinkish.

I've done a full LED conversion on the street Miata. SuperbrightLED was my pusher. They're great, at least as bright as stock. I can grab the part numbers if interested.

And yes, match the light to the lens color.

yes.. colour must be matched or it washes out. Also, please do not put in the ones that just make a tiny dot of light in the whole lens.. those are hard to see and are what make LED conversions illegal

For 1157s, I used 1157-A45-T in the appropriate color. Nice 360 degree spread of light, they look like incandescents but brighter and with that immediate response that you get with LEDs. There's an 1156 version as well.

Reverse lights were 67-W15, it's got less spread (210 degrees) but is well suited to what is really a set of rear-mounted headlights. Very bright.

How does the Miata flasher react to the LEDs?

Easy, just change one resistor in the flasher unit. There's an NB version as well, here's what I did on the NA. Worked perfectly.
