I love the idea of LEDs. High output for low amounts of power use, and little heat to stress things... but where to start?

I have been looking for some small round LED fogs for my rover.. and I keep seeing this style for Jeep

Any engineers around here who can explain to me how these work and how well this design might work?

You wants lumens. And range. Purchase a kit so you don't have to piece one together with a bunch of Internet hearsay.

LED range is not up to that of halogen, but is damn impressive. You get what you pay for. The off road strips are popular right now.

You can find some cheap Ebay ones that work well, but just aren't up to the quality of the high end ones. There are two local shops to me that I have seen good quality from. They do most sales online.

One thing to be aware of with LED lights is they don't have the penetration of HID units. The light will get to an object, but won't bounce back off of it allowing the object to be seen. Unfortunately this isn't measured by range or lumens, as it's an aspect measurable by a reverse range test. I still prefer a good HID pencil beam with LEDs throwing the broad range.
