Magic wah? A box or bucket that every leftover bolt, spare nut, spring, screw, plug, you name it, gets tossed into.
Why magic? Because its magically produced the one little thing you need to keep going on a project.

Every now and then, I dig through the multiple 5gal buckets of debris and sort out the good stuff into here. I've also taken to buying bulk Gr8 and Gr5 standard hardware at the farm store, but the metric bins are filled with nice used JIS hardware from old cars and projects.
Both bin types are from Harbor Freight; while I would wholeheartedly recommend the yellow and black bins I would stay away from the cheap clear bins, they're trash.
I have the same setup as newrider3. Haven't tried the clear HF bins, I use the Plano version from Bass Pro Shops. Zero complaints, and I love the overall setup. With the clear ones, I just write "M10" or whatever on the front with a Sharpie.
And I do have one that's labeled "Used" that gets all the used but not trashed stuff.
I basically have an altar of fasteners & random bits in the garage. I'll need to get a pic of it in its current completely obliterated state.
Edit:
I have a 5 gallon bucket and .50 cal ammo box. If I'm in a pinch, I dump it out on the garage floor and find what I need. Then I scoop it all back up and put it back in the can. Drives my OCD friend crazy, but it's a lot more pragmatic than the amount of time it would take to sort and class all of the fasteners.
