They painted part of it last night. Condensation and all.
Only at GRM will you find several guys trying to build a car in the parking lot of a hotel at 3 in the morning. This place is awesome. Good luck with the build guys! Can't wait to see pictures from The Challenge.
check the simple stuff. plug wires routed correctly, base timing where it should be, ECU grounded properly, etc.

21.74

a stock 2.5 fiero runs a 17 sec time...
On maybe 5 cylinders with a blown head gasket and a hole in the exhaust manifold? That was a at least we won't DNF pass for all the marbles. I'm kinda sad I got so wrapped up in the Mumpkin that I didn't get to help much with it today.
A 21.74 isn't bad for someone that has never been on a dragstrip before, then given the keys to a car that suffered from a few compounding issues. It didn't help that it wouldn't rev over 4 grand, either. We were happy that it didn't leave half of the engine on the track.
So far, this is the most fun I've ever had working on a car.
Mr.Freese arrived at the crux of the matter. It's not how fast you go, its how much fun you have getting there. The spirit of the CHALLENGE lives!

Very cool! Wasn't dogging the car at all. For the timeframe of the build, and its mongrel nature it actually did quite well. Heck it completed the challenge under its own power, without a team of guys hitched to it pulling it!

Hey, better than a DNF! I was about to loan you guys some tow straps and starving college freshmen. Why do you think we always bring so many people to the Challenge?
The car is safely parked in front of my house. I want to thank everyone who helped make this happen / enabled us. It is hard to believe that this was pulled off at all, let alone semi successfully.
I can honestly say that this was the most fun I have had in the five years I have done the challenge. If you had asked me Thursday night I would probably have given you a different answer, but in the end it was awesome.
I want to thank, Andrew, Chris, Derrick, Tod, Ted, TB, John, and Jonathan plus the countless others who pitched in, without your help and support this would not have worked out. And most importantly thank you to all the other competitors, and the GRM staff for putting up with us and hosting a great event.
