Sounds like you have the same affliction that I do, in it for the challenge of the build, but once it's over, interest fades.
Honestly it's those challenges that have cured me of any desire to work on cars anymore.
While the last Miata was fun, I realized that I just don't like autocrossing anything but AWD, and I just don't enjoy autox as much as I used to. I also didn't really enjoy driving the Miata in traffic, and I've never cared that much for convertibles.
The last straw was once we got the RV last year, it's always parked in front of that side of the garage. So I'd have to move the RV just to get the Miata out, and I'm far far too lazy for that.
