I was at the Lime Rock Vintage last week.
The racing was great, but the real fun is cruising around the paddock plus the flea market. Hung out with some good guys plus saw some pals racing
(but I'm really a lousy spectator.......glad I'm running the VRG Vintage at NJMP next week).
Anyway, here's various, random things I saw.
GR was there (thanks for the stickers!)
The world is full of comedians
Flatrad with MGB engine for sale
Messerschmitt out for a cruise
Sechs, baby!
T
W154-glorious!
Remember Wetson's Hamburgers? (they were like MacDonalds in the 70s) This is Herb Wetson.
Morgan 2 wheeler?
500cc Norton single power
Leaping to action
122 Shooting Brake F/S
Legnano? A first for me.
Greaser car
Bugatti T35b for bambinos
I used to have one of these with the triple
Rokon
Twins
Two Lussos! TWO!!
I know this is a "Counselier" (sp?). Not too pretty.
Bugattis. A magnificient T35B in the forground. The T37 in the rear has a Ford Model A engine!
A Ford six with three SUs
A real one

That's pretty much the most hideous thing I've ever seen. However I will just chime in here and say that I had those wheels, in 14" version, for my autocross tyres back when I had my Mitsi Mirage. They were crazy light and awesome.

Those aren't Lussos, they're SWBs. That's the car of which the GTO was supposed to be an evolution... rarer cars than lussos, I think, but more frequently raced. I saw a silver one at Watkins Glen 10+ years ago with an awesomely overdone race motor. Six HUGE carbs on top... maybe the greatest sound I've ever heard out of a car.
Nice pictures!
Matt
Hey Colin! I'll send more pictures to you. Are you going to NJMP?

Haha. There's proof that I'm not a Ferrari pointdexter (as if that were ever in doubt )
~Here's~ Steve McQueen's Lusso, which I'm familar with. I guess I was thinking these look similar.
By the way, a few years ago when I went to the Lime Rock Vintage a guy ran a similar Ferrari in the event (I recall is was a "250 something) and then, afterwards, he drove it home on the street. As it happened he passed me about half way to the Tappan Zee. It was raining and I was in my NB Miata. I had a hell of time keeping up with him.

I was at an autocross around the time that these came out and the distributor brought two of them for demo rides. Everyone agreed that they were the ugliest cars they had ever seen.
Then they easily destroyed the fastest time of the day.

I saw the Model A powered Bugatti the last time i was at the Vintage festival. The owner was FLOGGING it in the race. Made me smile.

Those wheels were the E36 M3 for about three weeks back in the 80's...

Here's a Bring-a-trailer post, featuring one of the few racing lussos next to that same #16 SWB at an event last year.

Looks awesome.
Thanks again for all the pics.
