Well because of work I had to move from Japan to Las Vegas but I didn't leave empty handed. I managed to get my 1988 Toyota soared exported to the states and I picked here up yesterday in long beach.

Yes, tell us lots more about the process, including $$$,€€€,¥¥¥. Importing fees, dealing with "The Man", and the buying process in Japan.
This was my car in Japan so before I could get it shipped to America it ha to be 25 year or older and I had to have the Japanese title transferred to an Export title allowing it to legally leave the country of Japan. After that I had to file with the EPA and DOT having they sign off that the car is exempt from safety standards. I picked the car up on Friday and haven't registered or titled it yet here in NV but I will include all the details when I'm done.
The car has had a few different looks over the past 2 years. Right now it's has tein coilivers,13" BBK,Apexi Exhaust and up-garage 3" exhaust. The current wheels are Rays Sebring gt-x 17x8 and 17x9.
Cost would be around 4K depending on who ships the car. I lucked out and my work ate the cost of shipping for the car and my furniture ect.
When you register it in Las Vegas, you'll have to choose between registering it as a "Classic Vehicle" (smog-exempt, max 5,000 miles/year) or a daily driver plate (must pass smog, no miles limit).
Problem is, if you try to smog it, and it fails, you are no longer eligible to get a "classic vehicle" plate.
Choose wisely, grasshopper. When you get a plate on it, take me for a ride!
(Also, if there's anything I can help you with in terms of life in Vegas, I'll be glad to. I'm out of town right now, but will be back at the end of the month.)
IF I could find one that is lhd, with the 1GGZE, I'd be all over it.... but as far as I know... that vintage Soarer was rhd only (am I wrong??)
I've imported two 25-year-old cars from Canada. The import process is different (they both drove across the border!) but once imported, when it came to registration it was exactly like registering an old US car from out of state.
