As far as I can tell, ever LS-based Chevy Express van that is a 2500 or 3500 has a 4L80E, instead of a 4L60E, but am still looking for confirmation before I contact someone about one I may use for a swap project. Anyone know if this is right?

Every 6.0L and Duramax van from '03-'09 has a 4L80E. If it is newer than '09, then it has a 6L90E. If it has a 4.3L, 4.Gr8 or 5.3L, then it has a 4L60E.
Very convoluted progression.
If its AWD, it will always be a 4L60E, even in the one year (03) that they offered AWD in a 2500. All AWDs were also 5.3L. It has been claimed that a few of the early ones slipped through the 4.3L V6 and AWD, but I think it's horsepucky.
Nick, are you sure about the post-09 going to the six speed? I drove a 2012 cargo AWD that was a 4 speed.
Edit... nevermind. I missed your clarification about the 5.3L

I'm pretty sure some, if not all, the 4.8s had a 4l80e as well. A buddy of mine swapped that drivetrain into his squarebody truck as a light duty tow rig.
what is the option code for that trans ?
I have a 2005 and can check the code sticker on the door
Edit ; MT1 is the code , my 4.8 liter 2005 van has MT1 (MT-one) on the RPO sticker
hope that helps
