Those look like the ones I have in my Turbo Sentra, but they don't seem that loud to me.

Looking at the Wolo Big Bad Max, but can the horn circuit in the Miata take the amperage? Being that its an STS car, light is preferable. So big awesome systems are tragically out.

I had these on a dedicated 30 amp relay and liked them.

I've heard that yacht horns are good. Not as loud as train horns, but plenty loud.

Stebel Air Horn Combos

My Jeep has the most pathetic horn known to man. I want to put the "Big Daddy" in my Jeep. Its small, self contained and sounds pretty decent.

That would be those huge GM horns of the 1950's, IMO.

Long ago I rigged one up on my motorcycle. Even used a house light switch because the horn promptly burned out the oem switch. Anyhow, locomotives would answer me sometimes.

Go stand in front of them. From what I can tell, they are fairly directional, as mine sound super quiet inside the cabin, but in front of the car they are quite loud! (S2000)

Come to think of it, last time I was in a yard, I grabbed the horns out of a caprice. Worked great for the Escort and cheap as dirt.

I just put a set of fiamm air horns in the rover. Due to previous owner "maintance" only one of the two horns was even on my disco... and it was the high pitched squeaky one.

Sounds much better now

Maybe you're right. They do seem to get people's attention.

My '49 Plymouth has these massively long horns that look just like locomotive horns. Now, back in '49 they not only used positive earth, but 6 volt systems. When I converted the car to 12V negative earth, two things happened: The starter spun a helluva lot quicker and those horns would wake the Dead.

Horns from pretty much any old, huge, 'Murican car are the way to go. Or, I always liked the ones on the W123 and R107 Mercedes. Had a loud, yet European flavor to them.
