Love The Beast Trailer. First I've heard of the movie but the trailer looks awesome.

From the site.

"This movie is Eric Bana's directorial debut and details the story of his love affair with his first car; a Ford XB Falcon Coupe; and their journey together culminating in the wreck of the car in one of the world's most dangerous races; the Targa Tasmania. Currently the movie is set for release in March 2009 in Australia but stay tuned from more info on this one."

Watched this on SpeedTV last night. Pretty cool, has Jay Leno, Dr Phil, and Jeremy Clackson. Lots of footage of the Tasmania Targa

It has kinda a lot of Dr. Phil... that kinda confused me...

But a pretty good movie. Definitely worth the watch.

I finished watching this morning and I really enjoyed it. I told my wife she needs to watch this so she can understand me.

I caught that today on Speed completely by accident. I really enjoyed that it went out to explain the difference between those who see cars as an appliance and the rest of us who have a love affair with them.

Also made me want to build a crazy tarmac rally car pretty badly.

Wow. Just wow. Man, he captured it all, didn't he?

Thanks for the link! This one's going in the library as soon as it comes out on disc. I think I'll put it right between my copy of LeMans, and my ratty old copy of "The Speed Merchants" (taped off-air when a local TV station ran a 16mm print back int the 80s.. )

The "Speed Merchant's" excerpts (used by Bana) were great reminders of the "real" Targa Florio, a reminder of an era when FIA road racing occurred on real roads. Bana and the Targa Tasmania are wondrous events, but Vic Elford, et al, were/are heroes.

"Love the Beast", "LeMans", and "The Speed Merchants" make a great foundation for a video library.
