Got the 2010 Camaro donor, got the recipient vehicle. Plan is minimalism. Think GT1 car for the street. No AC, no power steering, small alternator. What are my options for pulleys and belts? Is there a kit to go V belts? Don't want all that extra stuff hanging off the front of my engine. Next question. Whats out there for controlling the FI other than just installing the stock computer? I want the option of adding a cam and maybe someday a turbo without starting over again. Probably building a whole new wiring harness anyway.

my understanding is the gm tuner can let you make just about any adjustment you want with the stock computer.

v belts are stupid. rephrasing that to be non offensive to v belt lovers - v belts probably aren't going to like how quick the engine revs and will spit themselves off or flip over or squeal, because they're stupid. ac is on it's own belt if it's like other LS engines, so all you need is remove power steering pump and get shorter belt or put idler in it's place. not sure of the configuration for your particular engine.

gm computer can be tuned to do anything you need via hptuners or efi live. prune harness and reuse.

Been searching. AC is its own belt so no problem there, and in LS terminology, power steering delete becomes "short belt conversion". Need to go find an idler pulley from an LS1 and a shorter belt.

Don't go to V belts.

Just get the PS idler for the electric racked cars. It bolts roughly in place where the PS would go. Simple

V belts are stupid. The only reason to ever use them is if you have a car that uses them and you're too cheap to convert because you'd have to tithe to a machine shop to make ribbed pulleys for your non-popular application. They slip and they rob power and they sometimes fly off at high RPM.

Aftermarket computer solutions exist but, to be honest, it makes WAY more sense to use the factory computer. Instead of spending $1000+ for an aftermarket computer that you have to tune and berk with to get it 95% right, spend $700 for an HPTuners suite, disable the VATS and other things keeping you from running the factory computer stand-alone, and just drive it. When you do cam swap type stuff, then you can learn how to tune an engine, although to be honest the HARD part is in tuning all the tedious setup and drivability stuff that doesn't really change with a cam swap, and really a cam swap in an already set up engine is EASY to tune because the MAF table isn't going to change, just the VE table and a couple other tables, and you can easily set up some histograms, do some datalogging, and then do a simple cut and paste map transform and you're done.

i should'a read the whole thread. although i am not as PC. V belts suck. Their main advantage is that you can replace them with a prybar and a starter bump at the track, no wrenches. Because V belts suck, you will get plenty of opportunity to learn the technique.

A GM serpentine belt is swapped with either a 15mm wrench or a 3/8" ratchet, depending on the style of tensioner used.. just keep the tool and a spare belt in the car..

To help with wiring, this is a cool thing for a reasonable price. I ordered one, but I'm a week or so away from installation.

And v belts are suckage.

you could get an underhood fuse/relay box with a convenient place to hook up jumper cables right on it from pretty much any GM vehicle made sense 1992 for cheaper... i've got the one from a 94 Caprice in my Camaro and it has spots for about 15 fuses and half a dozen or so relays..
