SHO and 5 speed transaxle. Or 6sp and V6 from a Maxima... oh and keep the "patina"

Nah, you got to stick some sort of V8 in there if it's a piston engine.

Hmmm.

Aha! Needs rotary swap. I think it would be awesome with a 20B.

The problem with a V8 is the lack of stock transverse manual transaxles meant for V8s. After thinking about it for a hot second, none come to mind in the GRM realm... Can you get a rotary sideways with a transaxle? I've got to be missing something...V8 or rotary...

Fill the car with Fiero mechanicals and interior for the ultimate irony.

Northstars can be bolted up to some GM FWD stick shifts meant for V6s...

There was an article where someone managed to get a rotary attached to a Fiat X1/9 transaxle - with a lot of fabrication.

Find out how they mate a LS1 into a Porsche and grab this from California. You'd end up with a Porsche/Chevy/Ferrari hybrid.

Engine orientation in the Porsche and the 308 is different by about 90 degrees...

What's the 5.3 transverse LS motor's designation again?

In reply to BoxheadTim:

Rats, there goes that idea.

Edit: The LS4 is the Transverse motor.

I somewhat doubt that would really stop some one capable of and interested in performing the Chevy/Porsche/Ferrari Hybrid. Or the Chorschari from here on out.

a 20B powered 308 would be RAD.

LS4

good choice, 300hp and proper configuration. they machined the back of the block to be the same pattern as the v6 and n* i believe so it could be mated to any GM FWD 5 speed.

thats the only route to go with this car, anything less than a v8 is wrong.

LS4's are used as complete packages by fiero guys, but I don't think anyone has mated one to a manual tranny. archie sells a kit for the RWD variant though.

I used to have a car and driver from the mid 80's where they had a 500 inch donovan aluminum big block in a 308 mounted longitudianlly.. Giant scoop over the roof. It was owned by a prominent race driver.

need to track that down.

Audis use longitudinal engines. I'm pretty sure the 308 uses a transverse one.
