The mustang got its first road mile in last night. Nothing worked right, it was hot wired, the steering wandered, the brakes were sketchy, it wouldnt go into 2nd, there was no gauges, or hood, or seatbelts, or plates. But it had power to spare and i was grinning like a mother berker. It was a very happy night for me. Its been 3 years since i drug it home as a roller with no floors.

It's a car again, not just a piece of garage furniture! What an awesome feeling that is.

It definitely refreshes my motivation to get out and work on it.

My mustang is still moving along. Since my last post about it I have gotten the gauges working, the alternator charging, all the gears work in the trans, Ive installed a radiator that can keep the temps under control. I've also made it actually road legal with plates and insurance. Well, quasi road legal, there aren't any seatbelts or turn signals. Its also sporting the latest in automotive fashions, its a contraption known by car guys as a "hood" or european car guys as a "bonnet" so I guess you can say its getting pretty serious. Last night it made another major milestone. I was able to take it for a drive that ended because I felt like it, not because it was over heating or puking any fluids. It was my first time doing that. I got about 25 trouble free miles in. That was nice. Real nice.

Next two milestones are thumbs up from rednecks, and a two week trouble free daily driven period.

I feel you there. I finally started the old barracuda recently. Still have some work to do to get it on the road but it sure gave me some pep to get it all done.

Dusterbd said I needed to get thumbs up from rednecks. Well yesterday I got a thumbs up from an asian that drives a bmw. No lie. I think we all know what that means. The rest of the world has conceded our victory, and is admitting that we have the greatest cars on earth. I plan to celebrate this victory with quiet humility, by binge drinking, shooting off fireworks, and picking fights with my neighbors.

Congratulations! To seal-the-deal with the rednecks, park it in the lawn, remove the plates, let the reg run out, put it up on blocks and break the windshield!

(But seriously. You're making me want to work on my stuff! Nice job!)
