I've loved them since they launched. If you haven't seen one in person, they have a lot of presence. I have actually crawled all over a couple, in case anyone thought my interior observations were baseless. Unfortunately, i didn't take a drive in any of them.
I wonder if the duoselect is 'worse' than a BMW SMG? I've only driven one of those in a parking lot.

I've driven both transmissions. The BMW SMG gearbox causes me to cross certain years of M3 and M5/6 off my shopping list. The BMW box has less reliability problems but isn't enjoyable to drive unless you are driving really hard, like a track day. If you are just going to the store for a gallon of milk, it's a pain in the butt. The newer version of it that you can find in the 335is is a good driving transmission. The only way you know that it is not a traditional automatic is that it will roll backwards while in "D" until you rev it a bit to engage the clutch. Otherwise, auto or paddle shifted, it drives great.
