So I still haven't sold my 2006 NC Sport so I figure I may as well work on making it better.
It has an open diff which really limits its ability to exit a corner when autocrossed in CS trim. I also have a crap 2004 RX-8 that I think is gonna get parted out and scrapped. So do all RX-8s have the LSD diff like my GT NC Miata? Also the front sway bar should be a decent upgrade.
Are these worth doing? Any other bits and pieces worth scavenging?
All manual Rx-8s use a Torsen. I'm fairly certain (but not 100%) that base model automatics got an open. I don't know anything about swapping it between the two platforms, though, sorry.
Yes, the front sway bar will be a nice upgrade.
As far as I know, all of the manual RX-8s came with LSD. I'm not sure about autos. Front sway bar is a common upgrade. I think i remember reading that the front wheel bearing on the 8 is a little stronger. It's 4 bolts to replace, after getting the brakes off. The brakes are bigger if you plan on tracking the car. They will fit under 17" wheels, but not 16". If it is a street or autocross car, I would keep the stock brakes for less unsprung weight unless you are really pushing it in the mountains and need the heat capacity. The seats in the 8 are more comfortable, but not sure how easy to swap.
I'm a rotary guy, so I say rebuild the Renesis and swap it in!

It is a manual car. But it’s junk. Rust and dents everywhere so the body is done. As far as I can determine the actual motor is good but there is an electronic gremlin that resists being found and solved so it has drivability issues. The electric power steering is dead as well. AC is missing. The car is a POS whose highest calling in life is to give up its goodies to its step brother.
The RX-8 differential is larger than the NC Miata. So, I don't think you can take out the LSD and drop it into the smaller Miata carrier. The RX-8 pumpkin has been put into the NC Miata before, but some modification to the PPF is required.
I was holding onto an RX-8 transmission, driveshaft and differential just in case I bought an NC Miata, and I literally just sold them to Stampie as a set for $100 this week.

Unfortunately it's not a real Torsen. Its a Tochigi Fugi (Now GKN) "Super LSD" Basically some conical friction material behind the side gears that grab harder with increased gear separation forces (torque). Compression spring gives it some preload. So it's still a preloaded torque sensing diff but not as awesome as a true Torsen. Sorry if that's too pedantic.

Pedantry is what we do 'round here, I appreciate the further info :)
