Another online "news" source, who shall remain nameless, has posted an article that states Mazda MAY quit the Flat Rock, Mi plant they are currently "sharing" with Ford. IF/WHEN they do, it is reported that production (and possibly the sale?) of the Mazda6 model made in that plant will cease in the U.S. Another possible scenario is that Mazda will move 6 production to Mexico, and still sell them here. Apparently, sales of the 6 are way below expectations.
Subaru is also to discontinue the sales of the Tribeca....only 900+ have been sold so far in the year 2011.
I already know what news source you read
no surprise on the Tribeca...

The new 6 doesn't sell because they dumbed it down to another Camry/Accord/Legacy. It looks plain and stupid.
The old 6 came in sedan, hatchback, and wagon forms, came with an I-4, V6, or AWD Turbo-4, and they sold like hotcakes. New one is FWD sedan only with heavy emphasis on autotragics. Gee, no wonder people stopped buying them.
so much for having an unique car? your pod awaits you
I was definitely disappointed when I first saw the new 6. It used to have unique styling, several models, and drivetrain choices. Now only 4-cyl models get manuals, V6s get, and only comes in sedan form.
Sometimes a company makes a bad decision and unfortunately it was with a good car.

Mazda messed up just about everything in the last redesigns.
The 6 is pretty bad. IMO the worst is the 5. Every time i see a new one i cringe, whereas i USED to like them quite a lot.
The 3 is less terrible and ive gotten used to it but it's still less pretty than the last gen.
It's really sad the direction their styling has gone. They went from me liking 100% of the car-based lineup (do they still make tributes? Blah to that one) to me liking, honestly, only the ones that havent been redesigned yet.
Ive had plenty of time to get used to the idea of the new styling, but it just doesnt work for me.
I actually like the new 5.

Mazda 5 is ok with me. If I wanted a miniature minivan or a normal sized station wagon it would be on the top of my list to look at. I would like a Mazdaspeed Protege5. That's what I want.
NC Miatas are fianlly growing on my. Rx-8's I've never really liked the styling of the front fenders. Any of their other cars with a big smiley face on the front are off my list all together.

The current 6's have joined the Bland Theta Pi fraternity. Mazda strayed off the reservation with this one.
As far as 3's go, I like them a lot except the joker-grin grille is a bit much. Choose the right color and the effect is lessened - and you can't see it while driving, anyway. Seems like there is a big un-tapped market for re-styled facias for these cars.
I like Rx-8's, but hey, my tastes are as quirky as their styling, too.
The 2's are OK, but they're growing on me..........
Why do automakers design cars for which it is difficult to see corners.
Stop trying to beat Toyota at their own game, change the rules...
Build it and they will come....
I just want the old 6 back.
With Mazda out of Flat Rock it will give Ford the ability to build the Lincoln MKC with its Ecoboost engine and GETRAG sourced DCT transmission
