Anyone have opinions on the w211 e320 CDI (2005-ish) with the inline 6 OM248 turbo diesel?

I think it is ~200hp and ~365ftlbs and rated ~27/36 highway economy, with a sub-7 sec 0-60. Not quite a quick as the BMW turbo diesels, but don't seem nearly as rare on the ground or as expensive. I've seen a few decent looking examples in the ~7k range around this part of Texas.

I would think the diesel to be a good fit for the car. I just recently got a E320 Estate and enjoy it fully. its really comfy and has loads of interior room. Not just the boot, but also the seats themselves. I do not have to go into the steering wheel and such to be able fit someone behind me when driving.

IMHO, W210 (specifically 98-99 TD) were the last "good" Mercedes tank. After that, they started getting too swanky too fast and electrical/mechanical gremlins were rampant.

I have a 98 e300d, and yeah other than rust if you live in a place where its a problem, and likely having to pull the head to change the glow plugs they aren't bad. I have driven a w211 cdi and it had more power and handled better, but the SBC brakes make me really uncomfortable, and there are other issues like wiring fires in the trunk, more parts that are dealer install only, and higher cost of repairs that make me really not like them much. Other than the 92-95 years with wiring issues most of the older diesels aren't bad though. I'd either get a 97-99 w210, 6 cylinder 3.0 om603, or 85 and older om617 turbo. A w140 diesel with an om606 swap (appears to bolt in easily) would be cool too.
