Has anyone here ever had trouble with their Miata's fuel gauge? I was at Summit Point near the end of the season and my fuel gauge just died on me while I was on the track. It appeared as if it took one session for it to go from perfectly healthy, to intermitten, to completely failed. Should I look at the fuel tank to see if something got jossled around and stuck in there? I don't think it's a fuse, but I'll have to double-check that.

It was quite bumpy out there. I had problems with cruise control on my way home. This problem persisted for a couple weeks and then randomly fixed itself as most of my automotive problems seem to. But I wonder if something just got knocked off its perch in the tank or if the gauges themselves are susceptible to damage easily.

Weirdness on multiple gauges - I'd be checking grounds. Fuel gauges aren't normally a problem area, but with Miatas now as old as 20 years all sorts of new age-related quirks are starting to show.

Thanks, Keith. I'll check that. I've had electrical gremlins rear their heads already on this car. I'm sure it's about time for another.

I had a worn ignition switch cause some odd and intermittent problems in a 90 Miata. None involved the gas gauge, but the problems would heal themselves and then return later.
