OK, so I'm (hopefully) a few hours away from pulling the trigger on another NA Miata, this one being a much better candidate for a track-rat than my '92. (Affectionately known as Rusty the Smurf)
I have an M1 Hard-Dog Hardcore bar that I've never installed in Rusty, while the car I'm looking at has an M2 Hardcore hardtop bar already installed.
For various reasons, I would prefer to run my M1 instead of the M2. My question is, are the mounting-points for the two reasonably similar?
I figure as long as I check the bolt torques regularly, I should still be OK even if I end up having to make some of the holes a little less-than-round to make it work.
Then again, I don't really want several unused holes that may be right at the edge of the mounting plates, which doesn't seem like a good idea if I should happen to end up upside-down.
Just wonderin'...

I believe the M1 bars have the rear mounting points further back thanks to the straight instead of bent legs. I don't remember for sure.
Of course, if you put an M1 bar on an NB Miata, you'll have to change the top to an NA top. Or pull the top completely.

No problem, both are NA's... And the one I just bought already has the soft-top removed anyway.
So I'm not looking at any type of unnecessary bolt holes that could end up being a bad thing?

Well, it's a Mariner blue '92, with a nice interior and strong 1.6.
Oh, and the rockers are way beyond shot. Probably going to drive it for a couple more months while I go thru the '94 I just bought, and then sell it as a Locost donor or something.

That sounds like exactly the car that I need, if it weren't for that whole being in Ohio thing.

Where are you located? Might be tempted to deliver if it's somewhere warm...

Nice try. I hope that works out for you.
Yeah, Conn. isn't quite what I was looking for.
However, this was... Unfortunately won't be taking possession for a week or so. Already named her "Garrett".
