So, m.net has a plethora of posts on the topic, but universally the supposed fix is replace the gas tank hoses in the trunk.

Nope.  Never fixed the issue for me.

Other things to check?

I've checked the solenoid in the vapor gear at the back of the car, that flips with power applied, hoses back there were fine, have replaced some vapor/vacuum hose at the front.

Only happens in hot weather.

Does Keith have a magic answer?

Mine was cured by tightening all the Fasteners at the top access door for the pump at the tank and adding new weatherstripping around the access panels under the package tray carpet

That was next, but a little worried, that would not do it...

One of my cars had rust on the tank neck where the filler hose attaches. I removed the hose (don't do it with more than half a tank of fuel), and cleaned it up before installing the new hose.

I have this same issue, but only on hot days (+90f). I haven't looked too hard for the answer since I don't drive when it's that hot but I should address the issue.

Mine only seemed to be an issue on hot days.
