My last car had a Hard Dog bolt in street cage. My current car has a Hard Dog Hard Top single diagonal roll bar. I have decided that I want a cage again. I know that Hard Dog sells cage front sections that you can weld onto existing roll bars and I will probably go that route, rather than removing the bar and adding a complete new cage.
I was wondering if anyone here had done the conversion before and if they can offer any insight.
I did my own version using an existing Hard Dog diagonal. I was only looking for side impact protection so I don't have a halo. Let me know and I'll send you a few pics of how it turned out.

The Hard Dog conversion kit works pretty well. The Hard Dog cages basically just have one of the bars at the back, as there aren't that many ways to install that particular structure into the car.
My only gripe with the Hard Dog parts is that, since they're designed to bolt into the car, the front leg intrudes into the driver's footwell more than is ideal. If you're able to bend up your own rollbar tubes, you could weld it to the side sill instead and gain some useful ankle room.

The HD cage has a seat back bar, whereas my roll bar just has a harness bar, which is a bit of a bummer.
My old cage did press into my left ankle a bit, but I don't think I'd gain a whole lot by welding the front bar to the sill. It would be safer, but I wouldn't be able to remove it if I needed to.

Woody,
I would just call Tom at Bethania Garage. He can help you figure out how to make it happen...

Yeah, I'll touch base with him. He's been really helpful in the past.
But, I may just remove the bar and try to sell it, then buy a full cage.
