Been enjoying my 2002 Miata, non sport suspension, and thinking of a few changes.
Went from BF Goodrich G force Ta's to Yokohama S drives, the S drives are a much better street tire but a much worse autocross tire, and I think I'm about ready for a decent set of semi-dedicated autocross tires.
I need something with decent wear, as I mostly autocross with the buckeye Miata club and several other smaller clubs, do SCCA once in awhile. So I usually get 12-15 runs per event, and frequently have a co-driver or two, so some events the car makes 40 or so one minute runs.
I'm thinking Bridgestone Re-11's or the Khumo Ecsta XS...and not the Star Spec, as the star spec is said to get greasy with heat, and doesn't give the driver feedback that the stones or the Ecsta Xs does.
Are the Bridgestone tires slower? I've heared several people say that they can push the Khumo's harder, and I'm a little bit (over) aggressive as a driver...
Also...does 15" vs 16" for wheel size make much of a difference? I like the way the car handles with the 15's but not he way that it looks...would like to move up to possibly 16x7, or maybe even 16x8? rules aside...what would you all run under this car...?
I'd also like to drop the car about an inch and a half in the rear, what's the best way to do this? FM springs?
THANKS FOR ANY INPUT!
Chris
