I'm looking at a VVT intake cam and looking at the camshaft under the I1 cam cap. It is the cam cap for the VVT actuator. Where the oil cavities are the camshaft surface is smooth. Where the 'bearing' is the cam seems to be scored. It is running all the way around the camshaft. The 'bearing' surface on the head is smooth, as is the mate on the I1 cam cap. Is that the way it supposed to be? The rest of the cam seems ok, or at least the surfaces on the head and cam appear to be very smooth. If I oil the cam shaft it spins smoothly in the bearings (buckets are out).
Anyone have a detailed photo of a known good vvt cam they could share?
Thanks.
