Like a proud father, I can't help but brag about what a father and son in Florida have accomplished. While it's still my design underneath, they chose an Ecoboost for power, and the exterior is all them. I'm not sure who has the aluminum fabrication skills, but I'm blown away by the results!

Woah, that is some GOOD LOOKING body work.

I talked to a long-time race car fabricator who once said, "Race cars switched from metal body work to fiberglass because it's so much easier to fabricate. Once a mold is made, replacement panels can be produced in short order. Each hand-fabricated metal panel takes Much longer to make."
That said, nothing beats the look of polished aluminum, and I can't help but wonder what the owner is going to do with it. I put so much work and $$$$$ into Kimini that I became fearful that I'd damage the bodywork from cones, rocks, pebbles, etc. Hopefully he doesn't have my concerns :)
Oh wow, that is fantastic! I hope it never, ever bumps or is bumped by anything: Repairing that body would be a nightmare.
Whenever I see that high polish I think of a guy I met who worked for a famous artist known for his polished stainless steel sculptures. The polisher said that with 6 months he had become an alcoholic from the nature of that work.
But that's really something. exciting just to see.
They brought this car out to our local Caffeine and Octane a while back. I spent some time talking to the son about the body work; I believe he said his father was the welder and they both worked on panels. It has some really nice aluminum welding for sure!
