Our 2005 Cooper that we've owned since new needed all new exhaust valves at 85,000 miles. This wasn't a cheap repair. At the same time it needed a new radiator. Up until that point it was very reliable, but now I'm left wondering what will go next...

I'm going to disagree with you on autox, mainly because the base Cooper is more competitive within its classes ( h-stock and so far STF)

Never autocrossed once in my life. Just one of those things I don't get. But you're right, I forgot about the classes. Sometimes you get odd cars that are really good in a class even though it's the lower model.
