I love these as a kid in the 80's. fiberglass monocoque construction with mini running gear. Famouse F1 designer Gordon Murray was so impressed he had (has) one and helped with the later updated redesign. From memory this was the first kit car to pass the 30mph British type approve front impact test.

Awesome little car. A guy who lived in the same building as me had one in the early 90's when I had my Davrian. Unfortunately his went up in smoke although I always suspected that he could have helped it combust.

That kind of reminds me of a Herb Adams Jackrabbit, but with a roof.

It's like a weird English CRX. I can't help but like it.

Never heard of that before. Off to Google........Cool, I like it.

Similar, but not that fat and lardy Midas was nearly 8" shorter and 1.5" narrower!! Plus is weighed in right around 1,600lb's!!! But now you mention it, it's really hard to justify a Midas compared to a CRX. IT was such a shame Honda neutered all the CRX's that came over here. The only engine in the UK was a 125hp 1.6 DOHC for the Series I cars. Man I lusted over them, but they were high power, high price, very high insurance cars for wealthy city Yuppies only at the time.

There's a later redesign? It's a nice-looking car, but I can't help but think it would look nicer with pop-up lights.

Love it! And it's located one town over from where I grew up.

Looks like this fellow is the seller, there can't be that many car nuts in Clinton WA!

8" shorter? Good lord. I guess you can kind of tell from the pic with Gordon - that thing is TINY. 1600lbs of WANT.

That thing is sweet! It would be all smiles behind the wheel of one of those.

You needed to grow up in the UK addicted to all the Kit Car and racing magazines. If I'd invested the money I spend on magazines in the 80's I'd be retired by now!!! All lost in a fire and a continental move unfortunatly.

Yup, the Mk II Version with input from Gordon Murray. Here's a hot link that I hot linked of it in my thread on kit cars a couple of years ago!

IIRC they're derived from the Mini Marcos.

The Mini Marcos was more closely related to the Mini Jem. The Mini special that I really lusted after back in the day was the Unipower.
