Fair deal from my point of view one headache for another

Yeah, I'm thinking that this is some sort of Gift of the Magi sh...tuff right there.
Sounds like a decent winter beater, as long as it stays running.....
Otherwise, Strip everything that it doesn't absolutely need out of it. Cut the roof off the back section, cover it in green cammo plasti-dip & paint "INJEN" on the doors. Then sell it on CL or fleabay as a JP II replica, sell for profit? Worst case scenario take to the scrap yard, and get enough back for a couple bottles of Scotch.
I have a long time desire to own one of these, crank the suspension and take it on The White Rim Trail. Everything I've read on the reputation of these suggests that's a terrible idea. I'd be in.
I agree with the post someone made above. Any time you buy a car, running is just a bonus, for a bottle of booze its a win win situation.
I once bought a Jeep Cherokee for two bottles of so so vodka. When i saw the jeep the price dropped to one bottle and the kid agreed. Drove the Jeep a half mile down the road where the engine promptly seized. My best friend and i towed it home then returned to the kids house for a party where the bottle of vodka (and the second one too) were consumed. Fun times.
Do it. Its a win win.

Must not be good if no one has drank it for 40 years.

The next garage day at your place is when?
We used a ML320 for a tow rig for our F2 boat. It was comfortable, fuel efficient (22 towing average) and worked great, no issues.
Very under-rated vehicle IMHO
but hell at that price, get it, gut it, slam it, LS it and challenge it. or get it, gut it, lift it, and trail it till it breaks, then LS 4wd it.
