So ive still been looking for a car but some health problems have put it on hold. Unfortunately, my moms car has chosen right now to start making a weird noise. Ive attached a google drive link to the video. Probably will take to a mechanic but would love to get some advice first. Thanks in advance. The car is a 2008 lexus rx400h which, IIRC, has a 2gr v6 and a cvt. The sound seems like its coming from the top end and the drivers side. I can also feel the vibrations in the cabin. The car drives fine, but just sounds odd.

Sounds plastic-like to me. Is there something in the fan area?  Something in the alternator belt area?

Plastic cladding from under the car area?

In reply to John Welsh :

The passenger side fan has crapped itself - the blade is all wobbly on the shaft but that was causing a different sound rubbing on the fan housing and radiator so I don't think it's that. There is an issue with the plastic cladding that an oil change tech broke - I will check if it's impinging on anything later today. Haven't checked the belt area but will also check after work today. Thank you for the ideas! I hope it's just some broken plastic and not a big engine/cvt issue

Has the passenger fan gotten progressively worse?  That is my suspicion.  Wobbly has advanced to disconnected.

Good thinking! I will check that this evening as well. That sounds like a likely culprit

I think you might be right, the fan blades dont even seem connected to the shaft. I can't tell if the sound is coming from the fan or not but it seems like the likely suspect.
