Sure, it's yet another press release from a company that only has some renderings, big promises, and zero experience building cars. But this does seem to go in a a more GRM-ish direction: Instead of a high end luxury car or an electric truck, it's a 3600 lb coupe that kind of reminds me of a Datsun 510, at least from the front.

I like it, but I agree about not being optimistic on the car's future.

People only buy CUV's. They don't want a cool fun car. But I would love that little truck! Does a small single cab pickup even exist anymore?

Sierra
Silverado
Ram 1500
Ford F150
If you want to save $8,000 from above, you can buy a SR Tacoma ACLB with Utility like I have on my farm. ($22,000 with discount). 2.7L

Those are all so huge though. I would love something modern to compliment my El Camino, like a spiritual successor. The Maverick is the closest thing, but it's only crew cab from what I've seen.
I think the definition of "small" is stretched pretty far by the current crop of half tons.
I'm really hoping the current crop of EV hopefuls is a reflection of how much easier it is to bring an electric vehicle to market than deal with the emissions and packaging limitations of an ICE. I mean, it could just be a reflection of an easy way to pull a Nikola and grab a bunch of money. I remain optimistic that's not the case and that we're seeing a lower barrier of entry. Kinda like how YouTube created idiot influencers yelling at you for attention but also give aspiring filmmakers a place to practice their craft.
Alpha seems to be aimed at car guys, the exact people who complain that EVs are soulless and boring looking jellybeans. I hope they pull it off. They don't have to sell millions or even hundreds of thousands of them.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Hopefully you're right.
I still want a minivan EV first.

You mean my 4770 pound GMC Canyon isn't really a small truck?
In reply to mr2s2000elise :
Its pretty small. 1.56'x6.3' That is 2' shorter than the smallest taco.
That looks like it's a big rollerskate with a body on it.
And if they can pull off the rollerskate and mostly pass crash with it, I actually would think putting a body on it would be pretty reasonable. I mean in reality- maybe I'm more optimistic that they can pull it off. Or at least sell the design to someone.

Is 2001 modern enough? Buy my Sonoma. I may be ready to move on.
