I bought the ten year subscription option for GRM when it was offered. I subscribed over the years to more car mags than I can count. This is such a sad day for me. I love this forum. The intelligence, dare I say wisdom and humor that's expressed is unparalleled . But I am always thrilled to get the print mag. I am staying off of jalopnik mostly because I am sick and tired of the politics and the occasional things I don't want my kids to see. Cars keep me happy and give me a respite from the world. You would seldom see politics in car mags and Car and Driver, etc would have great, well thought articles on global warming, fossil fuel alternatives, and california.
This is just awful and I don't like it.
Thanks again for all of the kind words. We have a great team. We're constantly tweaking things in the editorial/production side of things, but at the end of the day it's all about putting the reader/viewer/visitor first.

Man, I just went though an issue of Automobile. Great stories, great photos. I typically blow through articles in C and D and Road and track that are about cars I will maybe never own. I always like the layouts and articles Automobile put out. They would review books, toys, things we had to buy. I loved checking the auction results. I am not going to miss car craft that much, but it still had articles on how to fix things of which I had no clue. It was nice to pick up some knowledge for not much money.
GRM always has great content, more people should subscribe. Same thing for some of the recent closures. I am not sure about the gains we have from the internet. I used to read three books per week, (I read fast and don't sleep well), but my reading has taken a beating and I try and limit my time on the net. I am fearful that we as a culture have lost so much with the rise of the internet. I love being able to go on this and other forums and asking and receiving help. I got a great deal on my mustang from being on the ford workers forum. I'm just really sad to see these publications die out.
I was trying to explain to my kids what sandwich shops were like before microwaves. You still get a hot sandwich, but it's nowhere as good. I am never going to complain about the cost of a subscription, not that I ever did. Half the reason for having a subscription was how much cheaper it was to subscribe.
Life goes on, just parts are not as bright.
