Unless someone's lived everywhere, how can anyone know where the most aggressive drivers are?

The BMW plant in SC is just a few miles from where I live, and by far, the BMW drivers in this area are horrible. They seem to believe that when they get behind the wheel of the "ultimate driving machine" it somehow makes up for their poor judgement and just plain lack of skill. Porcupines and BMW drivers, there is a difference.

So, does BMW infer this 'ultimate driving machine' style or is it acquired?

Similar can be said when soccer moms started driving 4X4 SUVs. They'll drive 65 in a 55 mph zone in the worst snow conditions when the road is at best a 45. I always kinda thought the dealers told them they were driving an invincible machine.

The BMW drivers are so bad that my wife will not let me even think of buying one. She is like you aren't that big of an A%# hat. Of course, it's a younger demographics city with some good paying jobs so a lot of those drivers are young guys.

It's worse here than when we lived in Chicago. At least in Chicago I could predict most of the bad drivers before they thought of cutting me off.

How about some hard data:

Louisiana wins!

http://www.carinsurancecomparison.com/which-states-have-the-worst-drivers/

BMWs and Prius' too!

I grew up in Berkeley and still work there, and can tell you that jacked-up pickups are statistically insignificant as a percentage of the population here. That said, they and the brothers with their 24-inchers-on-Oldsmobiles bother me the most, because their mods are such that their vehicles are more likely to crash as a result of their behavior, whereas at least a BMW stands a decent chance of avoidance.

The reason I will not buy another BMW has nothing to do with the drivers of BMWs.. it is the drivers of -other- cars. Between the ricers who wanted to race me at every opportunity, to the idiots who treated me poorly because I drove a car that shiny happy people tended to drive, I simply will not own another one

See, that's the reason right there - you're in Phoenix.

Here in Tucson we don't have that. Our drivers are just plain stupid and not paying attention. Then throw in the snow birds, and I think we've got y'all beat for bad drivers.

Tucson is much better place to be.

Aroun here (OKC) its people in either ridiculously lifted brodozers or german cars of any make. Especially 90's era VWs and newer BMWs.

I have the least problems with Canadian truck drivers. Maybe my firearm cools the fire within.

Around Alberta its the hillbillies with the lifted trucks with stacks that are the perennial a$$hats. Tied for 1st, people that text....the amount of times Ive wanted to bludgeon to death someone with their Iphone is innumerable.....cops are all hot and horny about drunk drivers, pfffft, hell no, some chickie texting her BFF about what shes wearing is far more dangerous as she in rush hour traffic. 2nd, minivans, its like before they let you drive away from the dealer they take away your skills, common sense and courage.....I swear, they are one of the leading cause of traffic tie ups.

Strange, it is the opposite where I live. Here The SUV's go 20MPH under in the snow and drive the middle of the road. I call them Slow unstable vehicles. When there is a double lane passing them in the un-plowed lane with my Mustang is fun.

As for tail-gaiters the Audi’s / VW's are always 6" off my rear bumper. The only way I know what they are is when I force them to pass me. It's almost like they are the same vehicle.

Amen, brother. I live on Dove Mtn. They give up their cojones when they retire. The rest of the town just lacks savvy drivers that know how to move efficiently and safely. Entry ramp manuevers are just amazing. At least I10 by me is 75 mph.

Come to the DC area and behold the oblivious Toyota Camry's.

Although, for absolute worst, go to Manhattan and dodge some cabs!

The best part of driving a truck (a real truck, not a pickup) in NYC is that cabbies -will- give you right of way.

Its just because people on the South side of Chicago haven't figured out how to manufacture IEDs yet.

I have to nominate the people from my fine city, Montreal PQ. One of only two places in North America where turning right on red is illegal, and for good reasons. I learned to drive in the city, and I have since driven in many city that are supposed to be bad (NY, London, Paris, to name a few) and I've never been phased by any of them.

As further argument, a few years ago, I bought a Maxima from a polite little old accountant who had lived his entire life in Montreal. He was sitting next to me during the test drive, and at one point someone cut me off really close, almost smashing into me. Before I knew it, the little old man reached for the horn, and gave the guy the finger with his other hand. I was shocked because this was so out of character, until I realized, he had driven his entire life in Montreal.

To me, the most agressive drivers are the ones who hit the end of the onramp 30 mph slower than passing traffic, and then they just yank themselves out in front of everybody.

I'd agree with you on Audis, here in the DC area. Even my good friend with an S4 says Audi drivers are the biggest shiny happy people.....

Disclaimer: I have a WRX and a BMW, both of which are probably "high on this list" everywhere. But really, it's like EVERY late-model Audi I see is being an asshat on the road, all the time. It's the new favorite douchebag brand for douchebag drivers to buy (which previously described BMW).

closely tied with people who are already on the highway, and approaching a busy on-ramp, yet don't make any effort to get out of the right lane while half a dozen cars are trying to merge (some braking, some accelerating).

The only time I blew a brake line, it was slamming on the brakes for some aggressive shiny happy person in a semi with Ontario tags.
